ABOUT
Micah Rivera
riveramdesign@gmail.com

Hello there, I'm Micah!

Despite my parents’ best efforts to mold me into a STEM woman, my love for the arts prevailed. I didn’t realize I could have a career that supported these interests until I moved to the U.S. from the Philippines in ’16, and learned about graphic design. It all clicked and I realized — this is what I want to do. Thank you, Google! My design interests include art direction, brand design, and publication design. I’m a lover of storytelling in any shape or form: books, illustrations, video games, or anime. Understanding the context behind the story is important, and my goal is to tell your story through design.

La Ceriste Bakery

Branding | Art Direction
La Ceriste means ‘the cherry’ in French, alluding to the cherry on top as the finishing on cakes. We get things done, and we help the community do so as well. La Ceriste Bakery is both a bakery and a co-working space, dedicated to bringing the city of San Antonio, TX a space where they could enjoy French pastry as they collaborate and get things done.

Social Media Campaign:
Let’s Get This Bread
A social media marketing campaign for La Ceriste Bakery’s menu as suitable companions for their productivity. These sweet treats are delicious, but they also bring certain benefits that would be suitable for everyone’s productivity.

Sikat could mean multiple things in Tagalog: a famed person, rising, or a ray of light. Sikat is a podcast that focuses on promoting Filipino-Americans in the creative industry (fine arts, design, music, writing, etc.) based in North America. The podcast features artists under the spotlight in hopes of bringing together a community of artists sharing identity and passion, and to also inspire young Filipino artists.

Along The Vines: A Short Story AnthologyThere are stories that you hear as whispers from the other side of the wall, as conversations from a friend to a friend, or as a crumpled piece of paper in the corner of a room. Along The Vines showcases the writing of LGBTQ+ authors who share the love for personal yet bizarre stories. This short story anthology features a range of different genres from romance to mystery to coming of age stories.

Food is a huge part of Filipino culture. It’s the main guest in almost every kind of gathering or event, and so it’s a huge part in bringing together communities. A lot of ingredients in Filipino cuisine are hard to find in major grocery stores so the presence of Filipino stores is important for those who are away from home as it also forms communities and relationships. More importantly, these spaces recreate the experience from home, where Filipinos socialize and gossip with each other in ‘sari-sari’ stores. Rather than the products, it is the experience that makes these stores what they are.

More Than A Student

Illustration | Social Media | Motion Graphics
LBJ Student Center is home to many resources and services for Texas State University students. It has everything a Bobcat would need, but it is ultimately more than a building. More Than A Student is a social media campaign that focuses on the students that LBJSC serves. Bobcats are more than just students; they are unique individuals with different ways to express themselves.
